M.G. Eberhart

Mignon G. Eberhart, who is one of the best known American mystery story writers, admits that the sight of blood gives her a nervous spasm; she puts it in her books only with the greatest reluctance and then calls it by another name – a dark stain. She also hates going down the stairs in the dark.
Married to a civil engineer, she lives at present in Connecticut, U.S.A. ‘Writing,’ she tells us, ‘is not so much a matter of self-expression for me, as of self-defence; there was simply nothing else to do during the long months in the wilds waiting for a bridge to be built or a river turned in its course.
There were never enough books, although I always took along as many as possible, so the remaining course was to write my own.’
Her mystery stories three of which, Murder of My Patient, The Cases of Susan Dare, and The White Cockatoo, have appeared as Penguins have been translated into most languages.
