The Jewish War – by far the most interesting of Josephus’ writings, and the most complete record we prossess of an important period of Roman history ; first written in Aramaic. Then translated into Greek, and probably published in more than one edition, considerable additions and alteration being made. It will not escape notice that the tittle, identical in form with “The Punic War’ or The Gallic War’, shows how completely the author had placed himself on the Roman side.
